Following tonight's defeat against Bayern Munich in Nervión, Sevilla FC coach, Vincenzo Montella, argued that his side "deserved something more, we had the strength to create more chances than the one in the first-half. It's a shame about the deflection with regards to Bayern's first goal. Bayern then had more possession. In the second-half the game was more or less balanced, but we didn't have the same energy in the counter-attack. In the last ten minutes we pushed, but it's a shame about those two deflected goals. Chances are slim with regards to the second-leg, but we will play with the same pride, even more, because we believe in ourselves".
Asked about the choice to play Soria, the coach responded: "I have to make decisions, and I make them according to what I see, it was time to give David a chance, he's a player that trains consistently with professionalism. He's a trustworthy keeper, he always has been, and I believe that today's match was right for him. It doesn't take anything away from anyone".
Further asked about why he didn't use all three substitutions, the coach explained: "I was saving it for Navas, recently recovered from an injury, because in this type of game, if you play with a man down you run the risk of being beaten".
All in all: "I am happy with the team, we come away with a strong mentality which was important in trying to find the equaliser that we deserved. We have to carry this strength with us into the second-leg".
