Tanguy Nianzou has become Sevilla FC's youngest scorer in the UEFA Champions League at 20-years-old. It was the 18th minute of the game at the BVB Stadion when he scored following a free-kick taken by Ivan Rakitić. The French centre-back read the flight of the ball and made contact with a superb header, making it impossible for the Dortmund keeper Kobel to save.
It was a great first half for Sevilla and that goal pushed Jorge Sampaoli's side even further in search of a result, but in this case the great performance didn't get the result it merited as the Germans equalised.
With this early strike, Nianzou breaks the record set by the Argentine Diego Perotti, who at 21-years-old scored against CSKA Moscow in March 2010.
On that occasion, the outcome was different as the team coached by Manolo Jiménez narrowly lost and were knocked out in the last 16 of Europe's top competition. Jesús Navas is the only remaining Sevilla player that started that day, whilst former teammate Fernando Navarro finds himself assisting Monchi in the sporting operations of the club.
Nianzou isn't the first young goalscorer this season, as fellow 20-year-old José Ángel managed to score a brace away to RCD Espanyol last month, in a match that saw Sevilla come out as 3-2 victors over the side from Barcelona.
