Nicolás Pareja made his 100th appearance for Sevilla at the Benito Villamarín on Saturday after arriving at the Sánchez-Pizjuán in the summer of 2013, during which time he has been a vital player for both Unai Emery and Jorge Sampaoli, injuries aside.

In his first season, Pareja played 35 tmies after getting injued on his debut. In 14/15, he featured 37 times and stood out as a key player before picking up a serious injury against Zenit Saint Petersburg at the end of April 2015. After a year on the sidelines, he returned for the closing stages of the 15/16 season to play on two occasions. Pareja has become a vital player for Sampaoli this current season, making 24 appearances to date.

After three seasons at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán, Pareja has recorded 100 club appearances for the first time in his career. At Argentinos Juniors he played 53 times in two seasons. From there, he moved to Anderlecht where he won the Belgian league and played 60 games in two seasons. Pareja then moved to Spain with Espanyol, where he featured 65 times in two seasons before  moving to Spartak Moscow, where he played 60 games between 2010 and 2013.

Pareja, who extended his contract with Sevilla until June 2019 at the start of the season, is Sevilla’s vice-captain  and without-question one of the vital components of the sides that have won three consecutive UEFA Europa Leagues.
