Sevilla FC, the same Sevilla FC that conceded four goals on the opening day of the Liga season, now boast the fifth-best defensive record in the division after overcoming Athletic Club on Thursday night. Together with Villarreal (19), FC Barcelona (21), Atlético (22) and Real Madrid (25), Sevilla are one of the five teams in La Liga to have conceded fewer than 30 goals – a significant stat when taking into account the defensive frailties of Jorge Sampaoli’s side at the start of the season.
Sevilla kept a ninth LaLiga clean sheet of the season against Athletic, and, added to that, there have been eight games in which only one goal has been conceded. Sevilla have conceded more than one goal only eight times out of the 25 games played.
