The Sevilla FC first team squad are continuing to enjoy their well-deserved end-of-season holidays after rounding off a successful season with a win over Inter in Cologne in the UEFA Europa League Final. The side lifted their sixth Europa League title and qualified for the UEFA Super Cup just weeks after securing qualification for the Champions League with a fourth-placed finish.
Amongst the good statistics that came out of this LaLiga season, one of them highlights the good discipline of Julen Lopetegui's side. The team received just one red card in the 19/20 LaLiga season, the red card received by Lucas Ocampos in Valladolid in Matchday 14. This is the fewest that Sevilla FC have received in a league season this century, since the club returned to the first division. Only Valladolid bettered the Nervionenses, with zero red cards. The Argentine received his red card in the 92nd minute, meaning the Blanquirrojos only had to hold out for two minutes.
Only Valladolid (0) received less red cards than Sevilla. Lopetegui's men also saw no red cards in the Copa and the UEL
Only the 2014/15 and the 2018/19 seasons came remotely close to this season's record, receiving two and three red cards respectively, while to reach the next best season, you have to go back to 2010/11, when they received seven. The most red cards in a season came in 2012/13, as they picked up 14 red cards in domestic competition.
Sevilla FC also did not receive a red card in either the Copa del Rey (4 matches) or the Europa League (12 matches), again highlighting how disciplined Julen Lopetegui's side is. This statistic might not be one that many people pay attention to, but having eleven on the pitch at the end of any game is certainly a good starting point to achieve positive things.
