The manager spoke about the side's effort and the excitement that this competition generates

Julen Lopetegui spoke to the press after the win at the Riazor against Bergantiños FC: "The aim was to get through and that was important. These are the difficulties of the cup, the gap that apparently exists when you play lower division sides is reduced, and it can widen too". We had so many chances to score, we deserved to win by more despite how difficult it was. In short, it's a good test because we won and we're aware that there will be huge difficulties in every match".

Also, the manager spoke about the importance and seriousness of every match in the new-look cup: "Every match is a final and you have to treat it like that. If you don't take it seriously or you're thinking about other matches, football can punish you. We want the cup and we want it a lot, despite the fact the margin of victory wasn't greater, logically we deserved more goals".

To finish, he spoke again about wanting to do something in the Copa del Rey: "We said that there would be difficulties and there were. I said that we wanted the cup, it's an aim we have, it's a precious competition. We want to take centre stage and for that we have to win these matches and the upcoming ones".
