Fernando, Rafa Mir and Nemanja Gudelj were interviewed following Monday's defeat at Mendizorroza. On what happened against Deporitvo Alavés, Fernando reflects on how "we started the game very badly and conceded very early. We tried to hit back, but couldn't keep up the intensity on the pitch. I think that defensively we were not good and offensively we have to move the ball more. We know that there are good and bad moments to come, but we have to work together because it is a long road ahead. I had a virus, but will make sure I'm available as we search for victory in the next game."

For his part, Rafa Mir felt disappointed with the final result in a game where he scored Sevilla's third goal in the dying minutes: "We stood no chance at the end of the match. The team had given everything and fatigue was kicking in, but that cannot be the case. We are Sevilla and we cannot stand for that. It's a shame they took the lead and that cost us the game, but we have to keep going ahead of the next game. I will always turn up, and so do the fans, but I'm not happy just playing, we need victory and the search goes onto the next game."

To close, Gudelj also gave a self-assessment: "We are disappointed after such a result. It cannot be that five days after a great performance against Manchester City that we turn up and are outclassed in so many ways, ultimately conceding four goals. We have to reset, lift our heads and look forward to the next game. The second balls were important and they won the majority. Our strength lies in our togetherness and we always have to take whatever lessons we can. We cannot relax, we have to give 110%. I am sure that we will assess our performance as a group so we can reach our full potential as soon as possible."
