TECATITO ON THE DAY OF HIS RETURN: "THE GOAL WAS THE ICING ON THE CAKE"

Tecatito Corona was all smiles at the end of the match in Valladolid. It's not over nothing, having returned after so many months out and marking it with a goal: "The goal was the icing on the cake, I have had a long journey to get here, with the help of my teammates and family and I am very happy with what is happening now. I still remember that sad day when I got injured and thinking about what had happened was difficult, but I am smiling again now."

On the victory, he acknowledged that "it gives us a lot of confidence. The team is more positive emotionally and I am delighted. My message for the fans is please continue to give us such good support and I want to thank them all, and my family too."  

In a similar fashion, Papu Gómez stated "overall, we played very well. Maybe the first half was a bit back-and-forth, they had chances and sometimes we fell asleep at the back, but we also had opportunities to score. In the second half we played well and we were able to convert and win. We want to win every match until the end of the season, we want to get better in every way and move up the standings. Every side has their own objective, and we are privileged to play for this club and we have to defend this jersey in the best way we can."

On Europe he said: "We are going to give our all. There is no other option but to win and get to the final which we have wanted for a long time, in a competition that means a lot to this club, and make it a party." On Mendilibar, he ended by saying that "he is giving me confidence after a very long injury. He gives me minutes, he asks how I am doing, I feel loved and that is important."

The other goalscorer was Rafa Mir, who opened the scoresheet: "We can here with excitement and determination, with a good team dynamic and we won comfortably, playing well and creating chances, which is what it is all about." On his own performance, he affirmed that "you have got to keep on trying. I am a player who has always scored goals and you have to keep your head down and work. You can't score them all, but the important thing is to believe and keep working, and things come." 

On the match, he said that "it was hard work. They play like us and we are happy to have put smiles on the faces of our fans today. We now focus on Thursday, and are looking forward to it.
