Julen Lopetegui ahead of Sevilla FC-VfL Wolfsburg
First team

"WE FOUGHT SO HARD TO GET INTO THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE AND WE WANT TO STAY IN IT"

"I hope we are good enough for the fans and make their night"

Sevilla FC coach Julen Lopetegui appeared in front of the media this Monday afternoon alongside Gonzalo Montiel in the pre-match press conference ahead of tomorrow's Champions League clash against VfL Wolfsburg. Julen began by outlining "this is an important match and I would say we are excited for this competition. We fought so hard to get into it and we want to stay in it. We have a tough opponent in front of us who changed their manager and have international, physical players. We have to be at our best tomorrow."

"We prepare for every game with the intention of winning it and this is no exception. We're ready for their new style of play under the new coach. Our motivation to stay in the Champions League will help us achieve our goals," Lopetegui continued.

Referring to injuries, Julen said "we have a couple, some players who we're not sure if they'll be ready in time, we just played two days ago... Our motivation and desire will have to overcome that. Papu trained well and will be in the squad, we'll have to see about some others."

Finishing up, our coach pointed out "the fans will help us and push us on - they will be key. I hope we are good enough for them and can make their night."
