The Match

RC Celta de Vigo vs Sevilla FC, in MD15 of the LaLiga Santander season. This match also marks the return of league football after a six-week break due to the FIFA World Cup. Kick-off at the Estadio Abanca Balaídos is scheduled for 19:15 CET.

The Table

Both sides are in a tough situation in the league and are separated by only one point. We are in eighteenth place with 11 points, while the hosts are one place ahead of us with 12 points.

Players to watch

Despite their league position, RC Celta have numerous quality players, such as their left-back Javi Galán, a young, homegrown midfielder in Gabriel Veiga, and up front, of course, they have Iago Aspas.

Last three away matches vs Celta

In our last three trips to Vigo, we have come away with two wins and a defeat. Celta came from behind to win 2-1 in February 2020, but Sevilla came out on top in the last two clashes, with a 4-3 win in April 2021 and a 1-0 success in October 2021.

Travelling squad

Jorge Sampaoli has named a 21-man squad for the trip to Galicia, with thirteen first-teamers and eight academy players. Montiel, Nianzou and Rakitic are all suspended, while Rekik misses out. However, Lamela and Suso have been named in the squad.

Matchday Fact

This will be Carlos Carvalhal's third match as Celta manager, after he replaced Eduardo Coudet. The first two results were a defeat at home to Osasuna and a goalless draw away at Rayo Vallecano.

Ricardo de Burgos Bengoetxea will take charge of today's fixture, while Medié Jiménez is on VAR duty.
