After the team's efforts in the Super Cup, with minimal rest, Sevilla FC kick off the season in a special stadium
Cuerpo Superior

Sevilla FC officially kicked off the season on Thursday, far away from Spain. Three hours in a plane separated Seville from the team and the brave fans who traveled in these complicated circumstances. Three days later, it's time to get ready for domestic competition. And barring Real Betis, it is the shortest trip for an away trip the team will make this season. Sevilla FC will come up against Cádiz, a team that has progressively rising up to reach the heights of the 2005/06 team, the last time the two teams faced off in La Liga.

Sevilla FC arrive with the fatigue of having played extra-time in Hungary only three days ago. It remains to be seen whether this causes any changes in the starting XI chosen by Julen Lopetegui. Of those who travelled to Budapest, only Juan Soriano and Carlos Fernández have not made the trip to Cádiz. The remaining 23 made the trip down the motorway last night to Cádiz and all 23 of them will be able to be counted on during the match at the Ramón de Carranza.

Cádiz have one injury, Luismi Quezada

Cuerpo Inferior

Cádiz have most of their squad available and have had an entire week to prepare for the game, buoyed by their first win of the season last week against Huesca. Only Luismi Quezada misses out and their starting XI ought to remain the same. Cádiz is now home to three ex-Sevilla players: Cala, Negredo and the winger Salvi, who did not play for the first team. Cádiz started their season over two weeks ago against Osasuna. A game against Cádiz is always special, and it is a shame there will be no fans there to celebrate the occasion.

The match, after some initial confusion, will take place this evening at 18:30 CET and will be refereed by the Catalan David Medié Jiménez, with Antonio Mateu Lahoz in charge of VAR. Sevilla FC have never lost a match with Medié as referee. All of them have been wins except the goalless draw in the Riazor in 2017/18.
