Tonight is Sevilla FC's second Monday match of the season. The team will have another Monday match soon against Athletic Bilbao at home, but tonight is the first time in months that Julen Lopetegui's team have had the chance to rest for over a week between matches. With nine games left to play, Sevilla arrive in Vigo to try and end a run that has been going on for too long: the team have lost the last three matches in Balaídos. The last victory in Vigo came under Sampaoli in 2016/17 with a hat-trick from Vicente Iborra.
Last season's defeat was particularly tough to take when Celta came back with a late winner to cancel out En-Nesyri's early opener. It will also be a special match for Celta coach Eduardo Coudet whose first match was a defeat in Nervión but since then he has seemingly managed to guide his team to safety. Celta come into the game with various injuries, especially in defence. Murillo is suspended while Emre Mor, Rubén Blanco, Sergio Álvarez and Augusto Solari are out injured. Néstor Araujo has made the squad but it is doubtful he can start.
Celta come into the match with injuries in defence but far from the danger zone
Lopetegui has travelled with a squad of 23 players and only has Sergio Escudero out as he recovers from COVID-19. There were some doubts about En-Nesyri, but the team's top scorer has managed to make the trip to Galicia and Lopetegui will have a decision who to play up front. Sevilla will be trying to close the gap on the top while also increasing the distance between the teams below them. With a win, Sevilla would be six points off the top, and 14 points clear of Real Sociedad and Betis.
Alejandro Hernández Hernández will be in charge of the match. The Canarian has presided over two Sevilla matches this season, two home losses against Eibar and Barcelona. However, the overall balance is 14 wins in 25 games. Santiago Jaime Latre will be on VAR duties.
