SEVILLA FC LOOK FOR PASSAGE INTO THE COPA DEL REY QUARTER FINALS AGAINST VALENCIA CF

Sevilla FC return to Copa del Rey action. After winning the first three rounds away from home against CD Ciudad de Lucena, Linares Deportivo and CD Leganés, the Cup returns to the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán for the Round of 16. Valencia CF make the trip to Seville tonight in one of three all La Liga ties. The stadium was decided on the first team to be drawn from the pot, which in this case was Sevilla.

Sevilla FC have reached the Round of 16 by not conceding a single goal in the competition, a feat only CA Osasuna can match. While the three eliminated opponents did come from lower leagues, it speaks of the importance Julen Lopetegui's team are taking the Cup. The impenetrable defence is no coincidence either, with it being a hallmark of the team in La Liga and the Champions League. The Nervionenses will be looking for their fourth win in a row after the league defeat at the Wanda Metropolitano, a win that would put them into the Copa del Rey quarter finals.

Valencia come to Seville having eliminated Terrassa, Yeclano and Alcorcón in their cup journey this season. Their campaign could have come to an end right at the start against Terrasa - it took a 90th minute equaliser to secure a 4-2 win in injury time. After beating Alcorcón, Javi Gracia's team have had two matches in La Liga. They picked up one point after drawing against CA Osasuna and losing against Atlético Madrid, although they did put themselves in the lead in that match.

Sevilla FC and Valencia CF have met 17 times in the Cup at the Sánchez-Pizjuán, with a record of thirteen wins, two draws, and two defeats in favour of the Blanquirrojos. Julen Lopetegui recognised the importance of the match in his pre-match press conference, stating 'a Sevilla-Valencia needs little build up.' He also added that Valencia have improved since the league match at the Mestalla in December when Sevilla came out 1-0 winners after a superb strike from Suso.

The match will be played this Wednesday 27 January at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán with kick-off at 19:00 CET. The match will be refereed by Del Cerro Grande and will be assisted by Hernández Hernández on VAR duties. This is the first round of the tournament that VAR will be in play.
