The Champions League returns to the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán and does so on a key night for Sevilla in the competition. We welcome VfL Wolfsburg to Nervión where only a win will do to have any chance of making the knock-out rounds in the last matchday away to Salzburg. The team are without a win yet in the competition.
Julen Lopetegui's team will start the match bottom of the group, with three points, meaning the match will be nothing other than a final. A win would move us up to at least third place in the group, overtaking the Germans. Depending on the result between Lille and Salzburg, we could even end the night in the top two. That's all hypothetical, though. The only reality is that Sevilla need three points tonight to not say goodbye to Europe prematurely.
VfL Wolfsburg have three wins and a draw under the new coach
The German team come to Seville in good form since the sacking of Mark Van Bommel and the appointment of Florian Kohfeldt, under whom they have three wins and a draw in four games. Their last match was a draw away to Arminia Bielefeld - the first game they failed to win under the new coach. Wolfsburg are third in the group with five points, meaning they also need a positive result to keep qualification hopes alive.
Julen Lopetegui released the squad last night that will face the Germans. We will be without Suso and Lamela, as well as the long-term injuries of Jesús Navas and En-Nesyri. Delaney returns to action, however. The German coach has lost his starting goalkeeper, Casteels, to COVID.
The match kicks off at 21:00 at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán and will be refereed by Cuneyt Cakir.
