Rafa Mir was Thursday's guest on Sevilla FC TV. The Sevilla centre-forward firstly spoke about the win in the Champions League: 'Of course, I'm very happy but as the coach has said, we have to move on and focus and prepare for the next game. It was a goal that gave us a bit of breathing space. Your emotions are running wild and you can only relax when the referee blows the final whistle.' In this sense, he was content with his current form, and is now focusing on the game against Real Madrid: 'The other day, I was able to rest, play a little and finish with a goal. I'm looking forward to play at the Bernabéu, which will be my first game there. Why not go for the win? The stats are there to be broken and we're going there with hunger and desire.'

After the game, the striker received messages including once from Manolo Jiménez, ex-Sevilla player and coach who he worked with during his time at UD Las Palmas: 'I have a lot of fond memories with him. I don't think they were very fair to him at Las Palmas given the way the team was going. He stayed with me, explained things to me, helped me develop my heading technique...It's not been an easy road to get to where I am now, and my time at Huesca also helped shape me. We all have to believe in ourselves.'

'We can achieve great things with this team, we have a wonderful team spirit.'

Back to football, he spoke about the Sevilla squad, to whom he was full of praise: 'We have a very united dressing room, with a great spirit which is important when things aren't going so well. We can achieve great things with this team because we have a wonderful team spirit.' He was also questioned on different footballers in Sevilla's history, focusing on attackers and his current teammate, Jesús Navas: 'In terms of my position, I always paid close attention to Negredo, Kanouté and Luis Fabiano, as well as Jesús Navas. He's a quiet guy, but a great professional and human being.'

Looking back, he reflected on his arrival at the Nervión club: 'Everything happened so quickly. We'd had conversations with the coach and Monchi and I was just so excited to be joining a club as big as Sevilla. The following day, everything was sorted and I was able to travel. I remember waking up in the morning singing 'Sevilla tiene un color especial'...It was quite an easy decision to make and after experiencing first-hand the desire of the club, signing was an easy decision.' Finally, Mir looked towards the future with eager optimism to continue growing as a Sevillista. 'I want to continue growing as a footballer and show this huge club what I have to offer. I am ready to give it my all because when you have the opportunity to play for Sevilla, you have to take it.'
