The Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán is being celebrated. Today, 7 September, the Sevillista's stadium celebrates its sixtieth birthday, a celebration which will see the museum being opened and which will be shown by SFC TV and SFC Radio at 13:30 CEST.
The project was conceived by the legendary President, Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán, who passed away (28 October 1956) before it was completed and couldn't see the fruition of his idea; the stadium was completed by Ramón de Carranza, the club's next president and who swore that he would finish the Sánchez-Pizjuán project. He lived up to his word and today the stadium is celebrating its sixtieth anniversary in style. The stadium's inaugural match took place against Real Jaén.
The Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán, one of the best stadiums in Spain and Europe, has seen many famous days throughout its history, such as the milestones and anniversaries during its sixty years that we still celebrate today. In 1975, with Montes Cabezas as president, the stands above the goals was closed and in 1982 the badge and mosaic on the stadium were inaugurated. Now in 2015, under José Castro's presidency, new and ambitious reforms have been started to keep improving the Sánchez-Pizjuán with the best infrastructure available.
