Sevilla FC secured a hard-worked victory, with another clean sheet, this Wednesday evening at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán against Valencia CF. The team pick up three points after two matches without a win and they came thanks to a goal from Youssef En-Nesyri, yet again, in the second half. Julen Lopetegui's changes in the second half brought life to the Nervionenses who found the winner thanks to Youssef and a great pass from Fernando, yet again key for the side. Sevilla FC move onto 74 points with six left to play for. The team are now only two points off FC Barcelona, second in La Liga.

The first half did not have too much action, with neither side having a clear opportunity to go in front. En-Nesyri, a few minutes after kick-off, tried to latch onto a rebound and asked for a penalty for what he believed to be a foul. Sevilla channeled play down both wings to avoid the busy Valencia CF defence, with Óscar and Suso active down their respective flanks. Suso had a shot from outside the box, before Gudelj also tried his luck ahead of the teams' return to the dressing room. Valencia had a chance through Guedes, Voro's most dangerous player.

Valencia CF started the second half well, breaking into Sevilla's box twice in the first ten minutes. First up was Guedes, Valencia's best player, who got down the wing and whose cross could not be finished off by Manu Vallejo. Shortly after, the Portuguese made the same run and this time his cross was successful, but Bono, well positioned, blocked the shot. Lopetegui, seeing that his team had not reacted to Valencia, began to make changes, bringing on Marcus Acuña, Fernando and Papu Gómez on at once. The Argentine would not take long to have his first chance after a combination with Suso, but he shot into Cillessen's gloves.

Sevilla improved though after Lopetegui's changes and they began to get closer to the box of Voro's team. And the goal would not take long to come. Fernando, after some good team play, found the ball at his feet outside the box and he threaded in a great pass to En-Nesyri who found himself one-on-one with Cillessen. Youssef made no mistake, scoring his 24th goal of the season. Sevilla did not stop there, attacking a damaged Valencia, and Acuña was a stand-out after his arrival on the pitch.

Sevilla FC held firm until the end and resisted a late injury-time push from Valencia CF

Sevilla, with the three points in the bag, made use of all the substitutions to close out the midfield and they held firm against Valencia's late attacks. Valencia would not give up, forcing Lopetegui's men to fight until the very last minute to come away with the victory that puts them up to 74 points in the league, one point from third with two matches left in the league.
