It was a tough, tough night in London. We have been eliminated from our favourite competition after West Ham overturned the 1-0 result we brought to the London Stadium. Goals from Soucek in regular time and Yarmolenko in injury time sentenced the team to defeat. West Ham were the better team on a night that Sevilla worried Areola very little, with only one save of note coming to deny En-Nesyri in the first half. Soucek's goal, just before the break, gave life to Moyes' side, but they would have to wait until minute 112 in extra time before Yarmolenko's goal finished Lopetegui's side off.

The first half at the London Stadium saw spells of good football from both teams, with the game  conditioned by the result a week ago in Seville. West Ham started off the strongest, pressing high and winning the ball back high up the pitch which allowed them to create danger on Bono's goal. The first chance for Sevilla came from a Joan Jordán free kick that he sent into the wall. In the 26th minute, as the team had just weathered the initial West Ham storm, our best chance would come.

Areola and Bono made two incredible saves before Soucek scored the opener

A great piece of play saw Martial released down the wing. He found Augustinsson with a great flick who played a quick ball into En-Nesyri. Youssef connected perfectly but Areola, who was on his wrong foot, threw out an incredibly strong right hand to deny the Moroccan. In the next sequence of play, Bono would show his shot-stopping abilities as he denied Antonio in a one-on-one. Despite that, West Ham would get their goal. Soucek rose highest at the back post to head in an Antonio cross in the 39th minute, provoking bedlam in the London Stadium.

West Ham sensed blood at the start of the second half and Soucek forced Bono into a good save straight from the kick-off. Lopetegui's team pushed forward with some good combination play between Tecatito and En-Nesyri, but without ever worrying Areola. The minutes went by and West Ham grew stronger. Bono produced a magnificent double save to deny Lanzini. West Ham kept on piling forward and Sevilla could do nothing to stop them as Moyes' men were sure of completing the comeback.

The tie went to extra time despite Sevilla's resurgence in the last 15 minutes of regular time

Tecatito, after a good knock-down from En-Nesyri, tried his luck but his shot went well over the bar. In the last 15 minutes of the game, Sevilla found a resurgence and pushed the Hammers back and tried to look for the winner, predominantly down the right wing with Tecatito and Navas.

EXTRA TIME

The first chance in extra time fell to West Ham from a corner, where Soucek headed just wide at the back post. With the team jaded physically, and despite Lopetegui's changes, West Ham would complete the comeback. Yarmolenko turned in a parry from Bono after he had saved well from Fornals. The team had little left in them and the minutes would go by without any danger of an equaliser from Sevilla.
