Jorge Sampaoli regretted the outcome of the match at the Bernabeu, in his first loss during his second spell as boss: "The feeling is one of sadness because the game was under control, more for us than for Real Madrid. A loss means we lose a game that we dominated in the second half and we had the best chances. They hadn't come close and we regret it because we didn't back down in a tough match but unfortunately we didn't come away with anything".
The team gave their all, but were not rewarded: "The feeling in the dressing room is one of disappointment, because the conditions were right for us to have scored again after being level, but these teams don't forgive you when you make a mistake and despite massive effort we didn't get anything".
On the positive side, he said: "We played as equals against an extremely well-organised opponent. We lost because of some mistakes but we came here to try to win and that's what I value. The result is not what you'd want, but these teams don't forgive". Finally, he was asked about Navas coming off: "He's playing with a bit of a knock, he felt the intensity of the game and had to leave the pitch".
