SCHALKE 04 BOOKED IN FOR ANTONIO PUERTA TROPHY ON MARCH 22

Sevilla FC vs FC Schalke 04 will head this year's Antonio Puerta Trophy - the tenth edition of the tournament. The match will take place at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán on the 22nd of March (during the March international break). It will be Schalke's first return to Nervión since Antonio Puerta's iconic volley against the German side in Sevilla's UEFA Cup semi-final victory 12 years ago.

FC Schalke 04 will be Sevilla FC's opponent for the tenth Antonio Puerta Trophy on the 22nd of March, 2019 at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán. Falling in the March international break, the occasion is guaranteed to be a highly emotional affair, with Schalke famously falling out of the UEFA Cup semi-finals to Puerta's iconic left-footed volley just over 12 years ago.

To date, Sevilla FC have held nine editions of the competition in honour of Club legend Antonio Puerta, winning seven trophies. The latest Sevilla win came in the summer of 2017 when AS Roma travelled from Italy's capital to be guests for the tournament. Schalke will be the first German team to participate.
