Sergi Gómez was the main guest this Tuesday on A Balón Parado on SFC TV, ahead of a crucial clash against Real Madrid. In the first part of the programme, Roberto Arrocha focused on the present and the Catalan's first few months in Seville: The atmosphere has been great ever since I arrived and everyone's mentality has been really positive. There are moments when we have a lot of chances in the final third and we have to make the most of them.' He then reflected on the difficult times of a few weeks ago: 'Bad moments come and go, but the more united the team is the better things will go. It's easy to throw in the towel but we have to stay together to get through those moments.'

He also emphasised the importance of not getting too carried away by positivity: 'EvAll of us here have been through these kinds of moments and that's football. There are big wins but also difficult moments. We have to manage each moment well so they don't affect us too much and not get overconfident just because we're winning.' Of course, Gómez knows that there is nothing wrong with thinking big: 'We have a squad with great depth and quality. Why not think big and aim for the European places?'

The visit of Real Madrid is always a source of great motivation and tomorrow will be a special night: 'It's a huge game, one in which all footballers want to play and there is nothing better than to play it at home in front of our people. It's going to be game to be enjoyed. I've had some bad losses against them, but we were lucky enough to knock them out of the Cup with Celta and it was a great moment.' Speaking about his exit from Celta this summer, he said: ' It was a complicated situation, with several teammates working separately. When I found out about the call from Sevilla I didn't hesitate and we reached an agreement quickly. Luckily everything turned out okay and once I got here I understood the importance of defending this badge and its history.'

He also spoke about his manager Pablo Machín: 'He communicates very well with everyone. He speaks with us and he gives us the peace of mind of having his input. That way you understand what he wants better and it's better for the team. We understand the ideology and we are all playing our part. It's a game-by-game process.' After speaking about the present, the footballer revealed his more personal side and had a few surprises in the form of videos from friends and relatives. He also received a visit from his father, Agustín Gómez, who even asked his son a few questions. You can see the entire programme on Sevilla FC's official Youtube channel.
