SERGI GÓMEZ: 'A PENALTY DECIDED THE GAME'

The defender had to come on for Mercado who was forced off injured half an hour into the game

Sergi Gómez was happy with the fight and determination displayed by his teammates despite the loss on Sunday against Valencia CF: 'We started really well but then they got their penalty. We kept on trying until the very end, we had chances to even win the match. We played well and fought every minute but a penalty decided the game. We have to keep positive and prepare for Thursday's important game.

Asked about the table and the opportunity the team had to move into fourth, Sergi rued the lost points: 'The teams above us had fallen. We're all very close on points. There are nine games to go and every one will be a final. We have to win them all,' he concluded.
