SEVEN CONSECUTIVE WINS FOR THE FIRST TIME IN NEARLY SIX YEARS

In terms of both play and results, Sevilla FC are probably enjoying their best spell of the season so far, and it is certainly showing in the statistics. After last night's win against Getafe CF, the Nervionenses have equalled their second longest run of consecutive wins in all competitions. They are still a long way away from equalling the club record set in 2006, when the team were able to win 12 matches on the spin, from the UEFA Cup Semi Final against Schalke 04 to the derby in Matchday 3 of the following season. Two of those matches, the final in Eindhoven and the Super Cup in Monaco, also brought silverware to the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán. 

Since then, this is the third time that the club have won seven on the bounce. The first occasion came at the start of the 2009/10 season under Manolo Jiménez, while the second came in the second half of the 2014/15 season, with Unai Emery as manager. If the team manage to beat FC Barcelona at home on Wednesday, in the first leg of the Copa del Rey semi final, this run will be the second best in the club's history. In terms of goals conceded in these runs, three were conceded in 2009, while six were conceded in 2015. In this current run, the team have conceded just once, against Deportivo Alavés in Mendizorroza. 

This is also the second time that Julen Lopetegui has won four consecutive league matches since he took charge at the start of last season. Before achieving this with wins against Alavés, Cádiz, Eibar and Getafe, he also did it in the summer, against Leganés, Eibar, Athletic Club and Mallorca, between Matchdays 33 and 36. Like this current run, the team only conceded once in those four matches, at San Mamés. A win at home to SD Huesca on Saturday would mean a fifth consecutive league win for the first time since the 2016/17 season, when Sampaoli's side beat Celta, Málaga, Real Sociedad, Real Madrid and Osasuna between Matchdays 15 and 19.
