Sevilla FC took the three points home from the Krasnodar Stadium last night in matchday four of the Champions League, with goals from Rakitić in the first half and Munir at the death after Wanderson had equalised. The victory was Sevilla's second win in ten visits to Russia, the last one coming in the 05/06 UEFA Europa League, Jordi López' goal securing a 1-0 win over Lokomotiv Moscow. Sevilla would go on to win their first Europa League that year.

Last night's win also qualified the team for the Round of 16 with two matches to spare, equalling a feat achieved in 09/10. The team still have to welcome Chelsea FC to the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán next Wednesday, with first spot in the group up for grabs, and they will then travel to Rennes to finish off the group stage. Last night was the sixth time in seven Champions League campaigns Sevilla have qualified for the last-16, and the third time the team have done so in the last five years.

Sevilla could equal their record points total achieved in a UCL group stage, when they got 15 in 07/08

With the three points secured against FC Krasnodar, the team have equalled their best tally at this stage of the competition, obtaining ten points from the twelve available, as the team managed in 09/10 with Manolo Jiménez and in 16/17 with Jorge Sampaoli. The record points total achieved in a group stage was set in 07/08, when Jiménez' side won fifteen of the available eighteen points.
