Stats such as Sevilla having not picked up four consecutive league wins since 16/17 or scored so many goals by the eighth matchday are some of the figures brought about by yesterday's 2-1 win over Celta
Cuerpo Superior
Sevilla's win over Celta on Sunday evening has brought about some impressive and encouraging statistics. The 2-1 league win over Celta has put some old statistics and landmarks back on the table, some of them dating back decades, highlighting the impressive start to the season by Pablo Machín's team.
The stand-out stat after yesterday's win is that Sevilla hadn't picked up four back-to-back wins in La Liga for two seasons, back under Sampaoli. That year, Sevilla picked up wins against Las Palmas, Eibar, Betis and Athletic Bilbao on matchdays 22, 23, 24 and 25 - from 12 February until 2 March. This time, Sevilla have beaten Levante, Real Madrid, Eibar and Celta in the period dating from 23 September to 7 October.
Sevilla had not picked up 12 consecutive points in La Liga since 2 March 2017
Cuerpo Inferior
Going deeper in Sevilla's start to the season after the eighth matchday, you have to go back more than 60 years to find similar goalscoring figures after Sarabia and Ben Yedder's goals yesterday. Since 1955, Sevilla hadn't scored 18 goals in the championship's first eight matchdays, scoring 21 goals in that 55/56 season. In that campaign, Sevilla picked up 15 points (counting each win as three points and not two), one less than this season.
Furthermore, Sevilla's position in the league presents another stat which hasn't been seen for over a decade: Sevilla have not been first in the league beyond the eighth matchday since 06/07, when they went first after a 2-1 win over Barcelona in the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán.
There is no doubt that Sevilla FC's eight matchdays are marked by some impressive stats
