Sevilla FC will feature at Web Summit 2019 on Tuesday. The annual conference will take place from Monday 4th to Thursday 7th at FIL, the Lisbon Exhibition and Congress Centre, in Portugal. Web Summit is considered the principal technology event in the world and was founded in 2009 in Dublin, where it was hosted until 2016 when it moved to Lisbon. This year is the fourth consecutive edition is Lisbon. The event was founded to "bring together people and businesses who will redefine the global technology industry" and in the business world, sport is growing in importance.
One of the branches of these conferences, which will take place on Tuesday, focuses exclusively on business models in the sporting world. In the 2019 edition, Web Summit wanted to hear first hand about the experience of a model club, whose sustained growth has attracted worldwide edition. So, Club President José Castro and CEO José María Cruz will travel to Lisbon to participate in two talks.
Castro and Cruz will explain Sevilla FC's business model
Firstly, at 13:15 (14:15 in Spain), Cruz will participate in the "The Business of Football" talk, which seeks to offer a 360º view of how a modern football club works, bringing together leaders in the development of the game, administration and science of the sport, in order to define what is needed for success. At this round table, chaired by the English journalist Andy Mitten, Cruz will talk with Sean O'Connor, co-founder of StatsSports, and the retired French international Pascal Chimbonda.
Afterwards, at 13:35, it is Club President José Castro's turn, who is the main guest for the "Walking with Giants" talk. He will speak with Miguel Delaney, Chief Football Writer at The Independent, a British newspaper, and will talk about how the club is operating at the forefront of innovation in the footballing world. More than a thousand guest speakers are scheduled to feature, from varying backgrounds, including Portuguese Prime Minister Antonio Costa, former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair, Microsoft President Brad Smith, and White House Chief Technology Officer Michael Kratsios.
