As is tradition every anniversary of Antonio Puerta's passing away, Sevilla's squad, led by Jesús Navas and José Castro, present a bouquet of flowers before the mythical player's statue in the Ciudad Deportiva.
On 28 August 2007, 11 years ago today, Antonio Puerta passed away three days after suffering a cardiac arrest during a game between Sevilla and Getafe. Antonio Puerta´s passing away, one of the most promising players in the country and a key piece of the great Sevilla side who won five titles in 15 months, moved the whole of Sevilla and the Spanish sporting world.
In his name, Sevilla organise a tournament and have a footballing school for young children, and at gate 16 in the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán his face is eternalised. In fact, at home games, his name is chanted throughout the stadium.
