José Luis Mendilibar, manager of Sevilla FC, applauded his side following the draw in the Gran Derbi: "The first half was fairly even, with few clear cut chances. The game opened up in the second half and we were better than them. We created some opportunities to score but didn't have that clinical edge today. We gained a point. We would have preferred three, but it was a good game overall."
The side, having played well, deserved to get more than a point: "We had to win it and score a goal. Maybe, because of the chances we had in the second half, we were the better team. Until today we have scored quite a few goals but we lacked in that department today. We had chances but we couldn't finish them off."
On Miranda's nasty challenge against Jesús Navas, the coach was clear: "I think that he has gone in with intent. As soon as he made the challenge he looked scared because he knew that he was going to be sent off. The other thing is that I don't understand the referees. How they can only give a yellow card for this challenge and they need VAR to tell them that it is a red. I said it to the linesmen, VAR is making these referees worse."
Finally, he placed importance on the end of the competition: "In our remaining games we have to try and get as many points as we can, and get to the highest position we can so we can qualify for something."
