Sevilla FC Femenino earned a point in their visit to Deportivo Alavés (1-1). After the two defeats suffered at the hands of Real Madrid and Villarreal CF, Cristian Toro's team managed to steady the ship in a highly intense affair in which there were plenty of chances for both sides.
The first half saw both teams show each other a little too much respect. Both teams went into the game with the idea of keeping hold of the ball but without conjuring up any clear cut chances to score. Inma tried her luck in the first minute of the match but her shot didn't quite reach her intended target. At around the thirtieth minute mark, Jessica broke free down the right hand side and blasted the ball home past Cornejo for the first of the game. From there on, Mikel Crespo's girls were looking to get back in the game and their pressure payed off. After a hard-driven cross from the right, Carillo arrived to slot the ball past Sullastres to level the tie.
Despite the entertaining second half, neither of the two teams could find a winner
The first half had not much else to offer and it would be the second half that showed a bit more promise in an entertaining sense as both teams started to create chances, with our ladies having the bulk of them. Toni Payne looked to be Sevilla's most likely player to break the deadlock and despite the Nigerian's many chances, she couldn't find the back of the net. Some changes were made and Sevilla kept on trying as did Deportivo, who made one last chance that saw them hit the bar. However, the scoreline would not be altered and the game finished a draw.
Sevilla will now return home and start to prepare for their next game which is a visit to Atlético Madrid, opponents who come off the back of a draw against Real Sociedad. Toro will have a week to get things ready for the game in the capital, the last game before the international break.
