2-0: THE RESERVES GET ANOTHER WIN AND EDGE CLOSER TO THE MID POINT OF THE TABLE

Sevilla Atlético pick up another win at the Estadio Jesús Navas, where they haven't suffered defeat since October, thanks to goals from Luismi Cruz and Zarzana

In a brilliant afternoon of football in the Andalusian capital, Sevilla Atlético picked up another win in the new calendar year in which they remain unbeaten. Thanks to goals from Luismi and José Ángel, Alejandro Acejo's boys once again got the three points they wanted against a CD Castellón side who are set up to compete to in the play-offs for promotion.

Sticking to their game plan, the reserves looked to dominate from the get-go. With plenty of chances in the first half for both teams, it was Castellón that would go closest with a header from Kevin that was subsequently defended by Javi Díaz. Quickly enough, Sevilla Atlético replied with a chance of their own through Nacho Quintana who slammed the ball against the post after a great through ball from Zarzana.

Luismi Cruz put the reserves in front from the penalty spot

Capi went through on goal but the visitor's keeper, Iván managed to make himself big and cover all the goal to Capi's and Ajelandro Acejo's dismay. Sevilla Atlético were looking good and from twelve yards, they would take the lead. Luismi Cruz was brought down inside the area by a mis-timed challenge from Kevin. It was to be Cruz who took on the responsibility and opened the scoring before the thirtieth minute mark. In the last embers of the first half, Mario Barco was unfortunate to not have put the visitors level from a curling effort.

With a frantic start to the second half, Sevilla were looking to widen the gap on the scoreline through Cruz again, who was close to netting his second in another one on one but again the visiting keeper came out the winner. Valentino also couldn't find the goal in the next big chance of the game where he sent a loose ball towards the goal from a corner. CD Castellón were looking adding pressure in the attacking half as they tried to find an equaliser in front of a solid Sevilla defence that withstood the visitors' attacks.

CD Castellón were looking strong in attack, but Sevilla dealt the final blow to them thanks to a strong shot from José Ángel, who came off the bench in the second half. The reserves were once again victorious at the Estadio Jesús Navas where they haven't suffered defeat since October.
