As the game went on, Julen Lopetegui's men settled in to the match and grew in confidence. Rakitic came close to scoring the first goal of the match with an individual attempt on goal, but did not find the end of the net. Pedro Ortíz came on for Jordán, and the Academy player was attacking from the offset with a slick pass to En-Nesyri, who was brought down in the box by Keylor Navas. Iván Rakitic put the ball past Navas and scored the penalty to put Sevilla in front.
Mauricio Pochetino's men equalized early on in the second half with a goal from Icardi after a good passage of play from PSG, which left Sevilla hungry for another goal. Navas was strong against Suso's attempt on goal, but a superb strike from Óscar Rodríguez was finally enough to put Sevilla in front again. Bono's save against Draxler led to a counter-attack from Sevilla, which led to Rodríguez's rocket from outside the box.
The Sevilla players sought to put an end to the game, but PSG continued to attack on goal with attempts from Juanlu and Idrissi. Naguera caught Sevilla sleeping and capitalized on confusion at the back between Bono and his defenders to equalize and draw the game. A thrilling four-goal game ended as a draw, and the first preseason draw for Sevilla FC.
