Nobody is in doubt that Sevilla are 'the kings' of the Europa League. The six triumphs are twice as many as the closest challengers; Inter Milan, Juventus, Liverpool and Atlético Madrid. However, this story of success  through the tournament's history took place in just three decades, even though the competition, since its inception as the UEFA Cup, has been played since 1971. Sevilla made its debut in the competition back in the 1982/83 campaign. Since then, Sevilla has gone from strength to strength, with a spectacular progression in the 21st century to become the premier club in the competition.

This season, Julen Lopetegui's team is participating in the club's sixteenth season in the UEL, still a far cry from the other teams that have been regular participants in the 20th century. However, Sevilla's success in recent years has put them up there with the top three teams with the most victories in the tournament. Having defeated West Ham last night, it makes it 88 Europa League wins, thus equalling the same wins as Tottenham, who have also participated in 16 Europa League seasons. Only two teams have more wins, who have both participated in more than sixteen seasons.

Sporting Clube de Portugal, now within range in second placed, have registered two more wins, 90 in total. The lions from Lisbon have participated in 34 Europa League campaigns. In first and a bit further away sit Inter Milan, who in 28 campaigns have summed up 96 victories. Curiously enough, the nerazzurri's last UEL appearance was back in 2020 in Cologne. In total, Sevilla have played 148 Europa League games, with 88 wins (59.46%), 30 draws and 30 losses.
