KOHFELDT: "I THINK THAT SEVILLA FC ARE THE FAVOURITES BUT NOW THE PRESSURE IS ON THEM TO WIN"

The German bemoaned the loss of their goalkeeper and captain Casteels due to coronavirus, and at the same time warned of the strengths of an opponent he considers "intense"

VfL Wolfsburg had their first taste of the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán on Monday. The team coached by Florian Kohfeldt trained in the evening in Nervión less than 24 hours before the penultimate matchday of the group stage.

In the press conference before this training session at the stadium, Kohfeldt spoke firstly about the absence of the goalkeeper Casteels due to coronavirus. "The captain is a last-minute absentee and it is a blow but his replacement is one of the leaders in the changing room. Tomorrow we will have a talented goalkeeper. Out of the rest of the players, none of them are isolating. I only manage the sporting side. The rest of it I have nothing to do with."

Next, he then spoke about Sevilla FC as an opponent, highlighting the intensity of Lopetegui. "They are a very intense team that manages to recover the ball quickly and we have to be prepared for this. In possession, they are very strong and high up the pitch and they can cause us problems. Also, they have individual quality. They almost always play with four upfront but also they adapt to the game all the time. We have to be quick offensively." Also, he indicated that "it is a very important game. We are not in the best place and we don't have much to lose. We have a lot to gain. We are hungry to progress." In terms of the situation of Sevilla FC he labelled them as favourites. "Once the draw was made I thought that Sevilla was the best team in the group and I still think that they are favourites, but now the pressure is on them to win."
