Tomas Vaclík, Sevilla FC's goalkeeper, was the guest on Tuesday night's 'A Balón Parado' on SFC TV. The Czech began by speaking about how he felt he needed to learn the language as soon as he arrived: 'I needed to. I need to know it for the dressing room, the city, etc. I try to speak and study because there are many players who only speak Spanish. There are some who speak English but you need to speak Spanish here.'

Regarding the team's current state, Vaclík stated 'our objective is to get fourth place and qualify for the Champions League. There are five games to get all the points we can and we'll see what happens.'

'I'm 29 and coming to Seville has been amazing for me. I'm really happy for the chance and to have taken this step'

'I always analyse my matches. I always want to improve and I speak a lot with José Silva, the goalkeeping coach, about how I did, what I did, etc. I rewatch what I did to try and improve. Whether we win or lose.'

Regarding his signing for the Nervionenses, Vaclík stated how happy he was to have joined the club: 'The summer was brilliant for me. I'm 29 and coming to Seville has been amazing for me. I'm really happy for the chance and to have taken this step. I told my agent 'do it' when he told me about it. We were on holiday in Turkey and he said I was their first choice. I returned to Basel and, after taking part in a training session with the goalkeeping coach, the Director of Football said it was all organised.'

'It's very important to have a connection with the fans, they push us on out on the pitch'

'The level in La Liga is very high. The players are top class and the teams are of a high level as well. It's special when you play against such talented, competitive opponents. Any team can win any match,' explained the goalkeeper regarding what most struck him about the league.

The Czech finished up by praising the fans and said he knew the anthem: 'It's very important to have a connection with the fans. Our fans are great, respectful and generate a great atmosphere during the games, they push us on out on the pitch. You feel good playing here. The anthem gave me goosebumps the first times I heard it. I know it and I sing it to myself.'
