As of now, Sevilla FC have had five players win the FIFA World Cup during their time at the club, three more than yesterday.
Gonzalo Montiel, Marcos Acuña and Alejandro Gómez have followed in the footsteps of Jesús Navas in 2010 and Steven Nzonzi in 2018 as Argentina defeated France on penalties.
None of our trio started the match, but Acuña replaced Di María in the 64th minute, while Montiel came on for Nahuel Molina at the start of extra time.
The final really did have it all. A Messi penalty and Di María gave Argentina a two-goal lead before the break, but two goals in as many minutes from Mbappé, including a penalty sent the match to extra time.
Messi added a second in extra time, but Mbappé got his hat-trick a few minutes later with a second penalty. The clash went to penalties, and Montiel, who scored in the shoot-out against the Netherlands, scored the winning penalty as Argentina ended their 36-year wait for a third World Cup.
