On Saturday the 14th of October, the Santiponce supporters club had one of its best days. To celebrate its 60th anniversary, many people came together, including representatives from Sevilla FC and the supporters group association, as well as members of the supporters club.
It started with a guided tour of the town which was then followed by lunch, where our vice president José María del Nido Carrasco was present. He was given the chance to speak, in which he first paid respects to Enrique Marín, a youth team physio who sadly passed away on Saturday. He then wanted to "acknowledge the beauty of the Aljarafe supporters group. Made up from 18 supporters clubs, it is obvious that many people dedicate a lot of their time to this. We would also like to thank the Santiponce supporters club for hosting us today. 60 years, you have followed us in both the first and second divisions and now during our most fruitful era. We're very grateful to the supporters group association for all of its hard work and would like to congratulate all involve. A big thank you also to Sevilla FC Radio, which has covered all of our recent success. Thank you for the work you have done in the past and we look forward to see what the future holds."
Finally, he discussed the first team's current situation. "Over the summer we said that we were going to strengthen the squad. We wanted to build upon our Europa League victory, which came during a tough year. We still have these plans, but this season's results meant that we had to replace Mendilibar. Diego Alonso is a great coach and we have full confidence in him. We're confident that we have a squad capable of success."
