Tuesday 14 May marks ten years since that unforgettable night in Turin when we beat Benfica in a penalty shoot-out to lift our third UEFA Europa League. That campaign was special from start to finish and includes many highlights. From the qualification itself to the epic quarter-final against Real Betis, or Mbia's dramatic late goal at the Mestalla that secured our place in the final.
To celebrate the tenth anniversary of this Europa League triumph, the club has produced a documentary that includes five 30-minute episodes that will be released every Friday, showing the story from different points of view. Fans, journalists and the players themselves share their first-hand experiences of the event, revealing their feelings every step of the way. The first episode will be released on Friday 17 May and will be available to watch via sevillafc.es/lacopaimposible. In order to watch, all you need to do is sign up for free. Episodes 2-5 will then be released on a weekly basis every Friday until 14 June. Sit back, relax, and enjoy!
Episode 1 - The Fluttering of a Butterfly (watch here)
The final match of the 2012/13 LaLiga season. A tumultuous season is coming to a close, with bad results leading to a second straight midtable finish. A win at home to Valencia CF would secure a ninth-place finish. Negredo scores all four goals in a 4-3 win. However, that resounding failure turns to relief when both Rayo Vallecano and Málaga are excluded from UEFA competitions, meaning that instead, we would play in the UEFA Europa League.
Episode 2: 'The Estoril Plot' (watch here)
The team were struggling in LaLiga and were knocked out of the Copa del Rey by a team from the third tier. Everything looked dark. However, Europe had touched the hearts of Sevilla fans years before, and it was the glimmer of hope that the fans clung to in their search for happiness. And they found it. After progressing through the qualifying rounds, the Group Stage began in September with a visit to Estoril.
