The Argentina National Team suffered their third defeat in the qualifying campaign for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Lionel Scaloni's side lost 2-1 to Paraguay in Asunción. They took the lead through Lautaro Martinez but goals from Sanabria and Alderete gave the home side the victory. Gonzalo Montiel came on for Nahuel Molina in the 78th minute.

Argentina remain at the top of the table despite defeat, although Columbia could overtake them if they beat Uruguay tonight. The current World Champions will be back in action overnight on Tuesday. They host Peru at the Estadio Monumental in Buenos Aires.
