Needing a win to keep UEFA Youth League dreams alive, Sevilla FC Juvenil A stayed strong to beat Arsenal U19. Collado and José Antonio's clinical first-half finishes proved enough to secure the three points, the first win of the competition. Lolo Rosano's side now have four points, having drawn against PSV, but Lens lead on nine.
With both teams looking to set the pace early on, it was Sevilla who broke the deadlock. In the twelfth minute, from a David López set piece, Bakary had a shot that hit the woodwork before Collado reacted quickest to score the rebound.
Looking very comfortable in defence, Sevilla pushed for another. The second goal arrived in the 38th minute thanks to a stunning strike from José Antonio which sailed into the top corner. As the half time whistle went, both sides disappeared down the tunnel, one team much happier than the other.
The second half saw Arsenal search for a way back into the game, but a couple of long-range efforts didn't trouble goalkeeper Marc. The home side regained control of the game and could have put the result beyond doubt but great defending by the visitors denied Bakary. With not long left on the clock, Sagoe Jr. gave Arsenal hope before the post came to the rescue as the visitors almost grabbed a draw in added time.
Victory means that Lolo Rosano's side move level with PSV on four points in Group B of the UEFA Youth League. Their next fixture is a league match against CD San Félix, which will kick off at 11:30 on Saturday at the Ciudad Deportiva.
