It was a defeat to round off the 2024/25 season at home against Real Madrid after we had been reduced to ten men in the 12th minute after Badé was harshly sent off for a challenge on Mbappé. Despite this, we dug in and with half time looming García Pascual had a great chance that he put wide. After the restart, Isaac was shown another red card, putting us down to nine and we managed to hang on until the 7th before Mbappé opened the scoring. Bellingham in the finla few minutes made it 2-0 to seao the three points for the away side.
In the Sánchez-Pizjuán during the first half, we had the clearest chances to take the lead, but unfortunately were up against having been reduced to ten men. Badé was sent off in the 12th minute with a straight red card after bringing down Mbappé, but Caparrós's side were hardly affected by the numerical disadvantage. Lukebakio first, and then García Pascual, with a one-on-one against Lunin on the verge of half-time, could have put us ahead, but the striker' shot drifted just wide of the post. Mbappé, for the visitors, was the only one to have a chance for his side, also missing a one-on-one against Nyland.
Isaac was send off minutes into the second half. Mbappé then opened the scoring in the 75th minute
The second half got off to the worst possible start was Isaac, who had just come on as a substitute, was shown a second straight red card for a tackle on Tchouameni, leaving us with nine players. We recovered as best we could, digging in against the onslaught from the away side and Gudelj made a goal-line clearance on the hour mark to keep out Valverde. Mbappé crashed a shot against the crossbar but eventually the pressure would prove to much as he opened the scoring with 15 minutes to play.
Down to nine and a goal behind, it would prove an uphill battle. With three minutes to play Bellingham made in 2-0 to put the final nail in the coffin on a difficult final home game of the season. Next up, is the final game of the season away to Villarreal.
