Sevilla FC Women claimed an important 2-0 victory against Sporting Club de Huelva. Despite already being relegated, Huelva came with plenty of fight. But Cristian Toro's side's perseverance ultimately paid off.

In a scrappy first half, Sevilla FC Women had the better of the chances. Toni Payne and Arola Aparicio were lively on the wings while Cristina Martín-Prieto had some half-chances. The deadlock was broken by the in-form Gemma Gili, who found the bottom-left corner via a deflection.

After the break, Payne and top-scorer Martín-Prieto once again had chances but couldn't find the back of the net, the latter poking just wide from inside the six-yard box having been found by the former. The second goal arrived from a corner in the 57th minute. Merznik thought she had saved Pamela González header, but it was adjudged to have crossed the line, giving Sevilla FC Women a two-goal cushion.

Elena Lozano came off the bench to make her debut

Cristian Toro's side had opportunities to add to the scoreline late on as approximately 800 fans witnessed the return of Ana Franco and Elena Lozano's debut. She wore the number 28 for her first taste of Liga F action. Victory means that Sevilla FC Women cannot finish any lower than seventh position and they have now overtaken the points total from last season. There a three games left to fight for a fifth-or-sixth-placed finish.
