QUIQUE: "THIS ONE WAS FOR THE FANS"

Quique Sánchez Flores was delighted after picking up three vital points at the Coliseum. "You have to keep believing, even in difficult moment. You can't let the negative thoughts build up, which is normal of course. Rather you have to keep the faith and believe in yourself and those around you. This one was for the fans, they haven't had the most enjoyable two weeks. But I know they will have enjoyed this."

Analysing the game, our head coach revealed that he knew how to approach the nervy final minutes. "We've had to learn the hard way how to close out a game. Conceding late goals against Almería and Celta de Vigo hurt us. There have been quite a few games where we've been unable to defend our lead. But today is a different story. We scored early on and then showed solidarity in defence. Other than the three or four needless errors in defence, we are all very happy with today's game."

Looking ahead to the visit to Las Palmas, he said that "this will spur us on. It is an important victory and it will give us some hope, some happiness and some togetherness. We will have to work hard and stick together, but we are committed and we want to keep giving the fans something to cheer about." He also discussed the substitutions made during the game. "Badé only returned to training a few days ago, but we trusted him due to his good performances so far this season. He played for as long as he could. Ocampos took a knock on his leg so Juanlu came on for him. He's a young lad with plenty of motivation and determination. He doesn't always make the starting XI, but he understands his role and always gives his all when he plays."
