Nemanja Gudelj featured in the first of two friendly matches that Serbia have scheduled ahead of the European Championships. Playing against Austria, he was included in the starting XI as a centre-back at Vienna's Ernst-Happel-Stadion, but could not prevent Serbia falling to a 2-1 defeat. Early goals for Wimmer and Baumgartner gave Austria a two-goal cushion before Pavlovic pulled one back before half time. Gudelj was replaced by Samardzic in the 64th minute.
Serbia will be playing in Solna against Sweden next, at 18:00 CEST on Saturday, before travelling to Germany for the European Championships. There they will take on England, Slovenia and Denmark in Group C.
