Andrés Castrín was this week’s guest on “La Cantera” on Sevilla FC’s official Twitch channel. The center-back celebrated his debut last Thursday with the first team during the Copa del Rey match in Olot: "The truth is, it’s been a week full of emotions. All you focus on is doing well and working hard every day so that the opportunity finally comes. I’ve been fortunate that it has arrived, and I’m very happy and grateful to play with the first team."
After Thursday’s debut, the defender participated with Sevilla Atlético on Saturday during the match against CF Fuenlabrada. Despite it being his first time playing two consecutive matches, Andrés emphasized that fatigue took a backseat thanks to the motivation and pride of being able to join the first team: "It's the first time I've played two matches so close together, but with the pride and determination I have, fatigue takes a backseat. When you're young and full of excitement, it’s a mindset shift that helped me perform better on Saturday. I’m here to do whatever I can to help the team."
"The most important thing is always to give your best version"
He also explains how the fatigue affected his performance during the match in Olot: "Until the 70th minute, my body said I can't go on, I was tired, I was losing strength, but I managed to hold on for 70 minutes and tried to do my best." Before his debut, he shared how he felt when he received the news that he could be called up for the Copa match: "The day before the game, I went up to train with the first team, a very light session. I was really excited because I thought I could be called up for the Copa. My teammates were already telling me, 'Relax, tomorrow it’s your turn, enjoy.'"
Although he admitted to feeling initial nerves about playing alongside the first team, the player emphasized that once on the field, the only thing that matters is concentration: "I won’t deny the nerves at the beginning, thinking ‘I’m playing next to these players,’ but then it’s all about concentration. It’s a football match, and you have to play with full confidence, trying to give your best. In the end, it’s 11 against 11, whether you play with the reserve team or the first team, and the most important thing is to stay calm, be focused, and give your best version."
