After ending their spectacular start-of-the-year streak last weekend in Yecla, Sevilla Atlético faced another extremely tough away match against a Real Madrid Castilla side that remained unbeaten in the new year. On the worst possible pitch for two teams that like to play possession football, the Sevilla reserve team once again delivered a flawless defensive performance, with Alberto Flores proving decisive in several key moments. As a result, they earned a point at the Alfredo Di Stéfano against a Castilla side that pushed forward in bursts but couldn't break through Sevilla’s defensive solidity. A draw that keeps them within striking distance of the top spots before returning to their stronghold at Jesús Navas Stadium next Saturday.

A highly balanced match took place at the Estadio Alfredo Di Stéfano between two reserve teams aiming for the top spots. Youseff tried to break the deadlock with a shot that forced Alberto Flores to tip the ball over for a corner. The Sevilla side, after a first 15 minutes struggling to find space near the opponent’s box, created their first real threat when Ibra came close to reaching a well-placed cross from Hormigo in the area. The best chance for Jesús Galván’s team came from Alexandro on a set-piece, but the goalkeeper and a defender managed to keep the score level. Gonzalo responded for Madrid with a strong header late in the first half, once again forcing Alberto Flores into a crucial goal-line save to maintain the 0-0 score.

Sevilla Atlético started the second half much stronger. Alexandro delivered a great cross into the heart of the box, which Hormigo almost managed to finish. Hormigo himself, repeatedly breaking down the left flank to the byline, sent in a powerful cross to find García Pascual, whose shot was once again blocked by the home goalkeeper. Just past the hour mark, Real Madrid Castilla had a double chance, but Robert Jalade and Alberto Flores were crucial in keeping the game wide open. In the final stretch, Raúl González’s team pushed forward. Youseff, showcasing his individual skill, struck with his right foot, but Alberto Flores stretched out his left glove to make another impressive low save. There was still time for Alberto Flores to win a one-on-one duel against Gonzalo, coming out on top once again. The home side failed to capitalize on their chances, while Sevilla Atlético managed the final minutes well, avoiding further danger. In fact, the Nervionenses had one last opportunity with a wide free kick that crashed against the top of the crossbar. A point for each team, with Galván’s side once again proving their defensive solidity before returning home to face CD Alcoyano next Saturday at 18:00 CET at the Estadio Jesús Navas.
