Sevilla FC Women fell to a 1-2 defeat against Valencia CF at home on Saturday. Christian Toro's side, who dominated for large parts, were not able to capitalise after taking the lead just past the hour-mark in an end-to-end game that saw both teams fight it out to the end.

In the first half, the tempo was high from the very start and Inma Gabarro, Amanda Sampedro and Martín-Prieto had opportunities to open the scoring. The best of these came just before the break as a double chance fell to Inma and Martín-Prieto but wasn't converted, leaving everything to play for in the second half.

After the interval, the match continued where it had left off and, with the intensity unrelenting, two more openings were created and not taken by the hosts through Payne and Inma before an hour had been played. But four minutes later, Inma got on the scoresheet to put her side ahead with a beautiful lob over visiting goalkeeper Enith. Changes were then made and soon after Sara Tamarit levelled for Valencia after a defensive error. And, just five minutes later, substitute Ana Marcos took advantage of another mix-up to put the away team in front for the first time.

In the final minutes, Sevilla gave everything in search of an equaliser with Ana Franco threatening and another attempt from out wide, but ultimately a comeback didn't materialise and the hosts will look to move on quickly ahead of facing Levante Las Planas next Sunday.
