Goalkeeper Sergio Rico extended his contract this Monday with Sevilla FC until the 30th of June 2021. The homegrown player, who signed an extension back in January 2016 which kept him at the club until 2019, has ensured he will remain at the team where he has spent all his life for at least the next four seasons. Despite only being 23 -he will turn 24 on the 1st of September- the keeper, born in the Montequinto neighbourhood of Seville, already has a lot of experience at the top level. In fact, as well as lifting two Europa Leagues, he has played in 129 official matches with the first team, consisting of 14 in the Champions League, 11 in the Europa League, one in the European Super Cup, 90 in the league, 11 in the Copa del Rey and two in the Spanish Super Cup. In 45 of these he was able to keep a clean sheet.

Undoubtedly, another milestone in his short but meteoric rise was his debut with the Spanish national team last summer against South Korea in June 2016. It was during the warm-up phase for the Euros in France, for which Rico joined Iker Casillas and David De Gea.
