A first-half header from Belgian forward Romelu Lukaku was enough to give Manchester United - Sevilla FC's round of 16 opponents for the Champions League - three vital points this Wednesday at Old Trafford. After a tough loss last Sunday to local rivals Manchester City, and with the Sky Blues having put some clear daylight between themselves and the rest of the table, José Mourinho's side needed buck up their ideas to put away an AFC Bournemouth side who were far from out of the game.

With the midweek win, the Red Devils consolidate their second-place position in the Premier League, three points ahead of Chelsea and eleven behind the seemingly unplayable Manchester City, who won away at Swansea. Manchester United's team was as follows: De Gea, Valencia, Jones, Smalling, Shaw, McTominay, Matic, Mata, Lingard and Martial. There were also minutes for Rashford, Ander Herrera and Young.
