After the victory against Atlético de Madrid, Quique Sánchez Flores said that Isaac Romero represents everything that the club stands for. Simple yet beautiful words about the academy graduate, who's first seven games for the first team have been nothing short of a dream come true. His impact up top has been momentous; the statistics speak for themselves. He's already our second top scorer of the season, joint with Sergio Ramos behind Youssef En-Nesyri. Isaac has scored five goals since being given the number 20 shirt following a spectacular first half of the season with Sevilla Atlético.

Including the games he played for the reserves, his season totals are 16 goals and five assists. With four of those assists coming for Sevilla Atlético, the fifth came last week at Vallecas, his pass setting up En-Nesyri's winning goal. He made his debut against Alavés before announcing himself with a brace against Getafe in the Copa del Rey. He scored away against Girona and his goal earned us a point against Osasuna. Then, as mentioned, he contributed an assist in the win over Rayo Vallecano before scoring the winner against Atlético de Madrid.

Only two players have been able to match this since the turn of the century. At the start of the 2003/04 season, Darío Silva scored three goals in his first six games, against Deportivo, Mallorca and Real Sociedad, before a brace in his seventh - a cup game in Badajoz against CD Cerro de Reyes. The other player is Kevin Gameiro, after he joined in the 2013/14 season. His first goal came against Polish team Slask Wroclaw in the Europa League. He then scored twice against Málaga in LaLiga before scoring again in the Europa League, this time against GD Estoril Praia. He scored at the Mestalla against Valencia in his seventh game. Interestingly, neither player managed to score in their eighth game for the club. It will therefore be up to Isaac to break the record at the Mestalla this Saturday.
