It was a night of mixed fortunes for the Sevilla players on Tuesday playing for a place at Qatar 2022. Augustinsson's Sweden fell and the final hurdle in their World Cup quest, whilst the Moroccans could celebrate. Involved from the beginning, the Scandinavian fullback played 90 minutes in Chorzow in the final against Poland after missing the semi-final against the Czech Republic through suspension. However, the Swedish left back was defeated 2-0 with his national team by Poland. Lewandowski from the penalty spot with Zielinski also getting on the scoresheet both in the second half.

A place where they were celebrating was in Morocco, who after drawing 1-1 in the first leg in Kinshasa, defeated the Democratic Republic of Congo in Casablanca to seal their place in the World Cup. Of course, in terms of Sevilla, there was concern as the starting goalkeeper Bono had to be substituted in the 43rd minute after suffering a dizzy spell from a clash with an opponent that led to an eyebrow cut. After having the wound stitched and being bandaged up, another clash shortly after forced him to be replaced by Munir Mohand in the 43rd minute. Morocco won 4-1 with goals from Ounahi (2), Tiddoudali and Hakimi. Ngita scored the consolation goal for the Congolese. Munir and En-Nesyri were on the bench.

Tuesday night also saw a friendly between France and South Africa in Lille in which Koundé, after starting against the Ivory Coast, came on in the 80th minute for Varane. The French won 5-0 with goals from Mbappé (2), Giroud, Ben Yedder and Gendouzi.
